Low, Howard Milburn May 16, 1931-March 15, 2014 Howard Low, loving husband of Lynne Love Low, passed March 15 at 83, peacefully at Home surrounded by family, after fending off cancer for over 30 years. Survived by son Duncan Low of Irondequoit, daughter-in-law Dolly Howard, grandson Jason Low (Christina Low) and great-granddaughter Jessilynn Low of Greece, N.Y.; daughter Wendy Low (Todd Smith) and grandson Marcel Smith of Rochester; son Richard Low (Melanie Sherwood) and granddaughter Savanah Low of Austin Texas; sister Joy Sobetzer of Rumney, N. H.; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Gardner Low of Chatham, P.A., and Rollins "Chock" Low of Hamburg, N.Y. Born in Highland Park, Michigan and raised in Hamburg, New York. A Chemical Engineer educated at the Universities of Michigan and Maine, he headed the Polymer Development Lab at Kodak for decades and is named on six U.S. patents. He and his wife Lynne were formidable bridge partners and longtime trophy masters at the Rochester Yacht Club, where they raced Dragons and Ideal 18s for decades before being ranked as "Ancient Mariners." He was also an avid downhill skier. In his retirement, one of his great pleasures was singing barbershop harmonies with the Chorus of the Genesee. The Family would like to give thanks to Wilmot Cancer Center, Emergency and MICU at RGH, and loving care from home hospice nurses. Services will be held on Saturday, April 19th 2014: Please join his family for Memorial Calling hours 10am-12pm at the HARRIS FAMILY CENTER (560 Kings Hwy, behind funeral home). Memorial service will follow, 3:30 pm at THE ROCHESTER YACHT CLUB, 5555 St. Paul Blvd. Rochester, NY 14617. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to The Nature Conservancy, Central and Western New York, 1048 University Avenue, Rochester, NY 14607 or Chorus of the Genesee, 58 E. Main, Webster, NY 14580.
