Irondequoit: After a long illness, Wanda Kliche passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28th, 2014 at the age of 89 in Rochester, NY. She is survived by her sister, Halina Pawlowski who lives in California, her 3 nieces and their husbands, 3 grandnieces and 3 grandnephews also residing in California.
Wanda was born in Osmiana, Poland in 1924 to Czeslawa and Edward Litorowicz, who was a Polish Officer. As a teenager, during World War II, Wanda was a member of the underground resistance working against the German occupation. After the war she earned her degree in Nursing and spent her adult life working in the health care profession.
In 1973 Wanda emigrated from Poland to the United States, settling in Rochester, NY to be with her sister and family.
Wanda belonged to the Polish Veterans of World War II Women's Auxiliary in Rochester and was a member of the Polish National Alliance.
Friends are invited to meet the family SATURDAY May 3, 2014 at 11:00am at ST. STANISLAUS CHURCH on Hudson Ave. for her funeral mass. Interment will follow immediately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers friends are welcome to send donations to Hill Haven Rehabilitation & Transitional Care Center Webster, New York.
