"Joe"
Rochester: Monday, July 28, 2014 at the age of 91. Predeceased by his wife Sally and his sister, Jeanne. Joe is survived by his brother, Justin (Regina) Farrar; nephews, Greg (Lisa) Fahey & David (Cheryl) Farrar; three grand-nieces, three grand-nephews and many dear friends. Joe was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army 106th Division. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was captured by the German Army in December, 1944. After liberation by the Allies in 1945, Joe returned home and attended Siena College. He soon met Sally Alberto, the love of his life, and they began a half century of marriage. Joe's successful career in broadcast radio took him from Albany to Boston and finally to Rochester in 1962 where he became general manager of WHAM. He retired in 1981.
Friends are invited to Joe's Memorial Mass, SATURDAY, August 9th at 9:00 AM at BLESSED SACRAMENT CHURCH (534 Oxford St.). Inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM at White Haven Memorial Park (210 Marsh Rd.) where full Military Honors will be accorded. Those who would attend, please gather at the main entrance by 1:45PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Joe's name may be directed to Wounded Warrior's Project. To donate on-line please go to: www.woundedwarriorproject.org
