Obituary of William R. Bishop

William R. Bishop, 78, entered into eternal rest on September 12. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Irene (Weltzer) Bishop. Survived by his loving wife of nearly 54 years, Carol, children Julie Bishop (Val), Lisa Revell (James Evans), Daniel (Mary Lou) Bishop, Kerri (Jim) Mandelaro, and Laura Bishop, grandchildren Anthony and Joseph Revell, Jonathan, Megan and Robert Bishop, and Matthew and Sophia Mandelaro. Also survived by brothers Charles (Gail) Bishop of Melbourne, FL and Robert (Marie) Bishop of Mt. Morris, NY, and sisters-in-law Patricia Jacobs of North Chili, NY and Shirley Hayden-Pinaire of Prescott, AZ, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill attended Sts. Peter and Paul Grammar School, Aquinas Institute, and Edison Technical High School. After graduation, Bill entered the United States Navy, and subsequently worked at Xerox Corporation for 38 years.
In addition to being a loving husband, father and Papa, Bill was a great jokester and loved to play pranks. He was an avid golfer and historian who loved politics and the stock market. Bill loved his family, his faith and his country. Bill built a cottage on a plot of land in Sackets Harbor, NY in 1969, and it became the family’s summer home for 40 wonderful years.
Friends may call at the Paul W. Harris Funeral Home 570 Kings Highway Irondequoit, NY 14617 Monday, September 15th from 4pm-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, St. Salome's Church, 4282 Culver Road, Irondequoit, NY 14622 Tuesday, September 16th at 9:30am, with interment at Irondequoit Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Leo Center for Caring and The Wounded Warrior Project. Bill's family would like to thank the aides and nurses for their dedication and care, especially Paula Walker and Sam Meyer-Clark.
