My wife Karen and I send our deepest condolences to the family of Father Joe Mitrano. I was the music teacher at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland during the years that Father was principal. He was a wonderful man. He always had a smile on his face and his positive attitude could be felt everywhere.

Rest in peace Fr. Mitrano. I remember you fondly as my Principal at Bishop O'Dowd High School. You always had a smile and kind word for everyone. Thank you for your years of service. Always, a counselor at heart, you were there for anyone in need and this sensitivity to others is one of the memories that I will always hold dear of you.

There is not a room in my home or a place in my heart that does not remind me of Fr. Joe, Krikit, Penny, & Governor. Had a wonderful visit with Fr. Joe and his family in Sept of 2013 in Rochester. Long time friend, mentor, priest, advisor...to live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die.

My family and I are blessed to have Fr. Joe as a friend. At all times, a St. John Fisher football game, a few drinks at Checko’s Cabana, a pool party, touring San Francisco, or a quiet visit – Fr. Joe brought so much wonder, joy, happiness, comfort, and peace to us.
Fr. Joe was my brother’s biggest supporter, best friend, and fan – I owe so much to him. I am certain that Fr. Joe and Scott have already pulled-up a bar stool, shared a Jack and Coke, a few laughs, and are catching up on old times.
Yes I am sad and that maybe selfish, but the wonderful memories and great times shared with Fr. Joe warms my heart and brings a smile to my face.
God has blessed us with having you in our lives and he will bless you. My thoughts and prayers are with Fr. Joe and all of our family and friends.

Dear family,
Father Joe holds a special place in our hearts. He was our friend and priest for over 10 years while he was in Kingsland.
We shared meals and trips to San Antonio to eye dr. Appts. He always scheduled the appts. So we could have lunch at the Saltgrss Steak House.
He was also our Priest for Sunday masses at Camp Longhorn for the summers. He loved his time with the campers that attended his weekly Mass.
We pray for God's comfort on Thursday when you honor Fr. Joe and lay him to rest. We especially pray for the weeks and months ahead when you're feeling the incredible loss. How wonderful to have such a great man to call brother, uncle, priest, friend..our sympathy to your family.

Dear Family/Friends:
Many thoughts come to my mind & there are so many wonderful things I could say about Fr. Joe. He certainly, brightened up a room!
I am so fortunate to have been one of the many people who knew & became friends w/ Fr. Joe. I met Fr. Joe through my brother, Scott McEneany while he was attending St. John Fisher beginning in the 1980's, in Rochester, NY. Subsequently, there are many who I still consider my friends & I am in contact with today.
After losing my brother, Fr. Joe became "life support" for our family. He truly helped each and everyone of my family members & friends through this tragedy. He has always had open arms, ears and heart for many people at any time. I could never thank him enough for his love, friendship & inspiration.
Fr. Joe absolutely spread the joy and smile! My thoughts go out to all of his family & friends. I wish each and everyone of you peace, comfort and healing at this time. You will be missed.
Love & Semper Fi

Dear Family:
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Fr. Mitrano. I work at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland, California. Fr. Mitrano was the Principal of our school.
I really enjoyed working with him because he was open and welcoming to everyone. His office door was always open to our students and faculty to come in and visit. And he also would go outside on the campus and talk to our students. I remember one of our students, a senior, was going through a bad family crisis and Fr. Mitrano was so supportive to this student. I felt he was also supportive to our school community because you could always go in and talk to him about an issue.
I was glad to have the privilege to work with Fr. Mitrano, and my thoughts and prayers to out to the family for their loss,
Judy Coleman

Dear family,
I can't begin to express our sorrow after hearing of FrJoe's death. He was our very close friend. We spent many times together to include all of the St Charles activities, shopping in Austin, purchasing his Lindt dark chocolate, many coffee times together, trips to the SA Dr and spending the night with him after his eye operation, his beautiful dogs etc, We used to visit him each year in Houston and go to his favorite Irish pub for lunch, followed by gelato. We continued to visit by phone once he moved to NY. So many wonderful memories!
We hope you are walking gently, most especially, through these next few days and months.
Blessed Be,
Don and Linda Joy
