Derry, Alexander Charles Irondequoit: Thursday, July 16, 2015. Predeceased by wife,Gail H. Derry, brother, Edward (Judy) and sister Angeline Kasprzak Ball. Survived by daughter, Mary Ellen Derry (Robert Peterson); loving companion, Phyllis Cotter; brothers Charles (Dorothy); Richard (Joyce); sisters Louise Franchell; Dorothy (William) Ouzts; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Kathleen M. Giehl. Alex was in the US Navy in WWII. He served on submarines in the North Atlantic, including duty on an Italian Sub and as prize crew on the U505. He graduated from Northeastern University and was an engineer for Kodak. He retired from Elmgrove in 1983 as Superintendent of Tools, Dies and Molds after working there and at Hawkeye and KO. He was a volunteer with Neutral Ground and SCORE as well as an avid card player and golfer. He had been a boater and active in Rochester Power Squadron. Our thanks to Lifetime Hospice care and our sincere thanks and heartfelt admiration to the staff of St. Ann's Special Care Unit. No prior visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Chapel on Thursday, July 23at 11:00am. Interment will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
