Fr. Joe took the time to share the gospel, the Peace, with the people at Mass by going to them in the liturgy, and offering his hand to them. Let us remember this Christ-like gesture coming from Fr. Joe's own initiative and pray for the eternal rest of his soul.

Fr. Joe was a wonderful presence on Fisher's campus. I was a Spanish professor at Fisher and he always greeted me with a smile and a kind word. I was always glad when he shared stories about his travels in Germany, Ireland, his running with the bulls in Spain, and especially about his Italian and Sicilian family. He will be missed by faculty, staff, and students.

Father Joe, from where I sat, was a man who genuinely loved people. He smoked, he drank a little, he loved a good time with others. A fellow Vietnam vet, I will miss him a lot. Fair winds and following seas 'til we meet on the other side....

I am truly sorry for the loss of such a great man. I will forever remember him as a sign of courage before football games with team prayer. To the blessing of the feet for the many Teddi dances. My prayers go to the family as he will be looking over the many of lives he's touched in his all of his wonderful years.

Fr. Joe, was always so friendly, engaging, down to earth, practical, and easy to talk to... Qualities so valuable for someone who is a priest and trying to serve the people of God. I always found Fr. Joe so and warm and welcoming. Fr. Joe in a special way along with all the other Basilians was always so very generous with us and our youth as we organized a youth pilgrimage to Washington during the March for Life. He was strongly pro-life and he lived the gospel of life in the way he treated everyone he met...He will be sorely missed... As we pray for him in these days, please God, may he pray and intercede for us!

Fr. Joe was a warm, compassionate and caring colleague at Fisher who always thought about students first. I know I am not alone in saying that his presence will be missed on campus by all of us whose lives he touched.
I offer my sincere condolences to his family as well as his many friends (how could a guy like Joe not have many friends!) He was a blessing to us all. May he rest in peace and enjoy eternal life in God's presence.

Doria - I know that you know how sad I am about Father Joe leaving us. I also, know that I enjoyed reading the things people had to say when my mom passed. This is something you can look at over and over.
I loved your brother, as you also know. In such a short time to make such and impact on an individual speaks so highly about what an amazing and special person he truely is. I will miss him with all of my heart.
You are so very lucky to have had such a special person in your life for all of YOUR life.
Thank you for sharing him with all of us.
Love you Sanndi

Father Joe as the epitome of St. John fisher where I graduated from in 2013. Regardless of faith or anything, Father Joe loved every student that walked the halls. We were so lucky to have him baptise our beautiful daughter during his last mass at Fisher on the 19th. It will forever be a blessing to us. May he rest easy and our thoughts and prayers are with him and your family.

Dear Father's, Please know how much Fr. Joe was loved by all of us at the Carmelite Monastery. He was always willing to help out the Sister's with anything. I was with Fr. Joe every morning at Carmel. He was a great friend to all of us there. His dedication to prayer was evident in how he was always remembering all those in need of prayers whether it by for the Teddy dance or some one's wedding or for some other special intention he was aware of. We will miss him very much, but we know that because he always ended his homilies about the Kingdom of God, he is now in the arms of The King of Heaven.
Your are loved Fr. Joe and please say a little prayer for all of us left her awaiting our turn to enter The Kingdom!
Yours in Carmel,
Carol Ann Payne

When my nephew was attending SJFC, I began attending mass at the little chapel with Father Joe. What a special priest! He understood the gospels, he understood humanity, was not afraid to show his and had a unique capability to provide a simple Christ- centered message for our lives as we started our week. I will miss his gentle ways, his humor and his presence st daily and Sunday mass!

Our deepest sympathies to Fr. Joe's family.
We will remember him as a very devout person who led us, and so may others, on this journey through life.
His character, his style, his warmth, his humbleness, will remain with us always.
We, and all of those that he touched, will miss him dearly.
We thank you, God, for allowing us to spend time with him here on earth, and know that he is now with you in Heaven, preparing the way, as he always did, for others.
