Barb was an extraordinary teacher, one of my all time favorites, not only because she loved the subject, but because she loved her students. I feel blessed to have known her and am saddened to hear of her passing at such a young age. I know that my experience of her is not unique, and that she was able to touch thousands of lives through her service in classroom and beyond. Blessings to her, her family, and all those who will miss her.

I am so sorry to learn of Barb's passing. She not only was a fabulous science teacher and mentor to her students but also to me in the "Study Skills" program at IHS. Having her classroom right around the counter, I counted on her as both a friend and a science expert! I especially appreciated that she kept a bottle of multivitamins in her desk to share when I forgot to take mine! We laughed daily sharing dog stories and student experiences. You must all have wonderful memories that I hope will ease your grief at this time. I too shall miss her. Jackie Shineman

Sending love out to Barb's family. I want you to know just how much she enjoyed telling stories about her kids (and dog!)! She would talk about your accomplishments and beam about time spent with you. You brought laughter, goodness and joy to her life.
May you continue her legacy by loving well. Her students and colleagues will try to do the same.

It pains me to learn of the passing of Mrs. Bailey. My sincere condolences do not describe the words I wish upon those survived by her. When I was a senior at IHS I asked Mrs. Bailey to write my letter of recommendation to the college I wished to attend. She did so without a second of hesitation. I acknowledge that I was not the best student (which her and I would often joke about) but that I had a dream and that with her help, it would help me realize it. Years later, at 21 I realized that dream and moved half way across the country to a place I have never been to start working in a career I have dreamed of since I was 4 years old. Mrs. Bailey, thank you for everything you have done for me. I would not be where I am today, or be the man I am without your help and guidance.

I was lucky enough to have Mrs. Bailey in my life through my most awkward and certainly my most impressionable years, 9th-12th grade. Reflecting on my time with her, the thing that sticks out the most is the way she made me feel: proud. When I was in high school, to the outside world, I was a lazy, brace-faced, dork, with no real sense of self. Mrs. Bailey didn’t see that “me” though. She pushed me to always work harder, think smarter, and to strive to be my best self. She instilled within me a sense of personal pride for my work product and a sense of self-responsibility for my actions, both of which I carry with me to this day. Most of all, though, she was someone that I knew really cared about me as a person. She always made me feel like the type of man I became mattered. I wish I could thank her for the lasting impact that she has had on my life. I wish I could tell her that all those talks she had with me weren’t in vain. While I didn’t go on to be a doctor, as we had always discussed, I’m half way through law school and already employed - a goal achieved in no small part through her help.
Mrs. Bailey, you were an awesome person and a great role model. You truly will be missed.

I have many fond childhood memories of the time our families spent together when you lived on Dake Ave. Although I was not fortunate enough to have Barb as a teacher at IHS, she always made sure to check in with me and make sure all was well when we saw each other in the hall. To the loving family and friends of Mrs. Barbara Bailey-- my thoughts and prayers are with you all. It breaks my heart to hear of your loss, and am sending calm vibes and thoughts of peace your way. Mrs. Bailey was my AP Biology professor when I was a senior in high school, and the reason why I graduated from Binghamton University with my degree in Biology. She made such a huge impact on my life, and I will never forget her. She will always remain fondly in my thoughts. May she rest in peace.

Mrs. Bailey was truly a gem at IHS. She's the reason I stayed in the sciences and took extra Biology courses with her. But more than that, she was a friend. When high school was particularly hard, she had such great advice and amazing stories. She went on to write my college letter. She was an amazing lady and she left us far too soon. I am so sorry for your loss!
