Lylak, Mykola "Nick" Rochester: Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Mr. Lylak is survived by his wife of 69 years, Maria Lylak (nee Fijala), son Evhen "Eugene" (Olena Lylak), grandchildren Oksana Lylak (Brian Keenan), Markijan Lylak, and Yvanka Lylak in Rochester NY. He is also survived by daughters Maria Romaniw, and Marta Sikora of Kadobna, Ukraine, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren in Ukraine. Relatives in the USA include cousin Anastasia Luchanko and family, and the Kuszlyk family. The family immigrated to the United States from Germany in 1949 and came to Rochester that same year. Mykola was active in the Ukrainian community throughout his life and volunteered in many Ukrainian community organizations including the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), the Ukrainian Youth Organization (CYM), Manager of the Ukrainian Westside Club, Treasurer of the Ukrainian Congress Committee, Finance Officer of the Organization in Defense of the Four Freedoms of Ukraine, Treasurer and President of the Ukrainian American Relief Committee (ZUDAC), the Ukrainian National Association (UNA), the Ukrainian Cultural Center, and a committee member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Epiphany, where he sang in the church choir for over 20 years. He worked at Consolidated Vacuum Corporation on Lee Road as a Carpenter/Handyman for twenty years and retired in 1981. His family will receive friends Sunday 1-4 at the Funeral Home Panachyda at 3pm. Divine Liturgy Monday 10am at UKRAINIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OF EPIPHANY. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Epiphany, the Ukrainian American Relief Association (ZUDAC), or the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA).
