Dear Jean, I was sad to hear of Bob's death. we played together in New Horizons concert band. During breaks we enjoyed conservations, usually about books we were reading. He was friendly among people who I found difficulty to form few I could relate to. I don't know if you would remember but we sat together at a holiday party at Midvale. I enjoyed meeting you and my husband and I had a good time that evening. My condolences to you and your family.a Sincerely Mary Petrie

Bob was my uncle (to be exact, my mother's cousin's husband); a like-able guy. When we were little, we (my siblings and I) referred to him affectionately as "Big Bob," to differentiate him from our brother Bob. I have some good memories of him. I know he was a Democrat, and a Red Sox fan. (Which was ok, despite my being a Yankee fan.) He was an Irishman - he had that Irish twinkle in his eyes. I'll always remember that about him.

Bob's friendship has been a valued part of my 12 years in the Irondequoit Concert Band. We often arrived simultaneously in the Dake parking lot before Tuesday evening band practice and walked in together, enjoying one another's company. I will cherish my memories of his personal warmth, his gentle sense of humor, and his interest in some of my outside interests -- such as signing up to learn Latin in my retirement. He would sometimes greet me with "Salve!", or a Latin phrase that he had learned years ago. There is one seat in the Baritone section that I will always identify as "Bob's chair". Vale, mi amice.
