Bernie - We'll miss your calm way of dealing with people, we'll miss your jokes, your puns, your off beat humor, we'll miss your great classic cars. But mostly, we'll miss you. It is very rare today to meet someone through business that becomes a friend.

Having worked with Berney for almost 20 years, it is with a heavy heart to hear of his passing. We both left RHA at the same time, but always could see him at the local dinner on Chili Ave for a cup and some eggs. My condolences to his family.

So sorry for your loss. My Mom died five years after my Dad. At that time, I felt like there was no longer someone who knew me from day one and loved me unconditionally. A parent's love is so special. Cherish all your memories. Know that he is at peace. Remembering you in my daily prayers. Barbara

I remember Bernie and Gene growing up in East Rochester back in the 40's & 50's, and can still remember their house in the two hundred block of West Filbert Street. Growing up back then it was like everybody knew everybody in a small cohesive village.
Bernie and Gene each had a 1932 Ford 'three-window-coupe', which to young kids interested in cars was the ultimate! I had owned a 1939 Indian Motorcycle that I eventually sold to Gene.
Bernie worked at BOCES #1 as well as my wife, and I drove school bus there for three years after retiring from Kodak. As indicated, Bernie and family will be long remembered.

Bernie and I were the very best friends since I was 12-13 yrs old although he was a yr older than I, but we as kids had a lot of fun together, he with his soap box racer in the derby, he lost, but it was fun to see him race, being in the boy scouts together. growing up in East Rochester and hanging out, camping and many things we did as kids. He even played the accordian for a period of time, that is where I wanted to play also. With his brother Gene they used to build cars in the garage behind the house on Filbert St in East Rochester, Bernie never lost his passion for building Hot Rods, he continue thruout his life building cars and showing them at car shows around the Country He continue to do so long after his retirement from Rochester Housing Authority. Bernie graduated from St John Fisher College.During the cold Winter months Bernie And I and one other High School Classmate of his Lewis Allen would meet at the East Ridge Family Diner on Ridge Rd and have breakfast and good conversation.
I am going to, miss my very good friend and God Father to my son Kevin.
To Bernie's familymy dearest sympathies for the loss of your father, brother, and Grandpa, Uncle. and to me.

Bernie was a good friend. I always enjoyed his company at car shows and competing with him with his beautiful '35 ford rod that he was so rightfully proud of. I also always looked forward to getting a calendar from him at the meeting when he brought them in each year, my car was on one of them. Rest in peace my friend .I will miss you.

Bernie was a beloved member of Rochester Street Rods. He was often quiet, but contributed greatly. One of the often repeated comments about Bernie is "he gave so much and asked for nothing in return."
He and his volunteerism will be greatly missed.

I always enjoyed seeing Bernie and talking to him when we would meet. He was a very kind, wise, and funny person. I seem to remember him as a teacher..I often thought of myself as the disruptive student and he the patient teacher trying to get the best from me. He was certainly a positive influence on me and I will always miss our friendly chats. Rest In Peace my friend. I miss you already. With love and respect--Jerry

I can not tell you how sorry we are to hear of the passing of your Dad. In knowing Bernie in the past few years he reminded me so much of my own Dad, I became very connected to him. He was a wonderful and kind man. In the car circle of friends he will be very missed.
Your memories will help heal the pain in your hearts as the weeks pass.
With sympathy, love and prayers,

Uncle Bernie was always such a positive influence in my life since early childhood. Working with him on the "Struble Family" geneology database over the past couple of decades has not only allowed me to spend quality time with this loving, caring dedicated family man but also provided hours of intense laughter at his corny jokes! He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren, and loved talking about how much he loved each and every one of them. Uncle Bernie will be sadly missed, but always very much loved!
