Dear family of Father Charles:
It is with sadness that I read for the first time, this evening, of the passing of my dear friend Father Charles. I was a student of his at St. Michael's College in Toronto. He always referred to me as his "protégée". I am presently vacationing in Naples with my husband and children and as I often think about dear Father Charles who always remembered his friends, he came to me this evening and in my heart he spoke these words: "Go online Anna and read my memorial." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So, obeying, I went online and was so saddened to read about his passing on June 5th. I had tried many times to contact him at the University over the past few years and had left more than one message for him. When he didn't return my calls, I feared the worst as the last time we saw each other he told me about his illness. I remember how clearly his Faith shone when he said: "Anna, I am so lucky because God has blessed me by showing me in advance how I will leave this earth. Not many are as fortunate to know this. Do not feel sad for me as I am indeed quite lucky." He was a remarkable man and is surely, without any doubt, in God's everlasting light as I write this. I will miss our chats.
