I am very saddened by Vyt's passing. I have respected and admired him for as long as I have known him, which is much of my life. When I was 16 and he was 26, he introduced me to primitive camping, fishing and hunting. This was invaluable to me throughout life. I was especially impressed that he always treated me as a peer even though our ages, at that time, were so different.
Over the years, I've enjoyed seeing his woodcraft, and we own several of his pieces. I remember his continuous generosity to our Lithuanian community. I enjoyed talking with him whenever we met.
Most of all, I remember his character as genuine, true, straightforward and kind in all situations, and almost always with a glimmer in his eye and a smile on his face.

Užuojauta šeimai ir draugams.

I worked with Vyt at the Rochester Field office of the soil and water conservation district for Seven years. I remember most vividly my first week on the job. My wife and children were not yet able to be with me and were still living in our home at our previous location. Vyt invited me to stay with his family on nights where we worked many late hours. From the first time I met Vyt I new I would have a friend and family that I would never forget. I have many wonderful stories I would like to share but I am sure there are not enough lines on this page to recount them. I have thought of Vyt often and we shared Christmas cards for many years and times at camp in Dansville that were wonderful. I will miss his cards and conversations immensely and am saddened that I did not receive this news in time to be present with all of you as his family. Know that He will never be forgotten and at our next dinner that is shared by all of his conservation Comrades, We will share a ton tine toast and speak of the wonderful times we had in our many years conserving Gods gifts of this great mother earth. Peace be upon you my big and proud Lithuanian brother. May you truly now have seen the face of God and be with Mom and Pop whom you so dearly loved. I will remember both you and your Dad Ice fishing this winter.

Dear Family-
We have not met, but I want you to know that I enjoyed very much knowing and working with Vyt- though the times spent with him were all too infrequent and brief. As I look back on my 21 years working in NRCS in NY, I enjoy most the memories of those friends and associates who were "characters". Vyt was one of the most colorful, and I mean that in all kindness. I have no doubt that he is strongly missed by many.
Peace,
John Dickerson

Vyt and I served in the Monroe office as conservationists. I shared a phone with him and our desks were facing each others. What an experience it was and what a privilege it was to get to know him. There are very fond memories of his stories and of course, those great mushroom cakes his mother made that he would share with everyone. My condolences to all.

Dear Ruta,
So very sorry for your loss. I worked with Vyt during the 90s at the Monroe SWCD. He loved working with the people of Monroe County. He was especially happy to bring landowners dreams to reality by helping design and build their ponds. He had a deep appreciation and respect for nature.
Vyt would do anything for his friends. I'm thankful for the times we had spent together. I also enjoyed getting to know Mom and Pops. I thought Mom's beet soup was a delicacy!
God bless.

Dear Ruta, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I will always remember your brother as a kind and thoughtful person. He had a great sense of humor and loved nature more than anyone else I knew. May good memories lessen the sadness in your heart.
