One of the most noble, spirited woman I have ever met. I am a better person for having known and engaged in conversations with her. She has left behind a legacy of fond memories to be cherished. My sincere condolences to the entire Giggens family.

Dear Susan & Bill,
Just learned of your Mother's passing ... My sincere condolences. I and brothers Don & Brent and sister Marilyn each have fond memories of our neighbors ... The Gibbens, especially Betty. Back in the 50's she was like another mother, super kind and always welcoming us to her home.

Dear Bill, Susan and family,
I'm very sorry for your loss. She loved her family deeply. I remember all her stories about Bill and Susan.
I will always remember your mother from our days in the outpatient department at Rochester General. She was a caring and compassionate nurse, colleague and friend. She was the first baby sitter for our daughter, because I trusted no on else. She taught me many valuable lessons, but one that has sustained me for nearly 40 years of practice. Don't expect a thank you when you save someone's life. It's what is expected. When a patient or family writes to you, save the letter or note. You've done something significant. When you have a tough day, take out your box and read a few letters. It's kept me centered all these years. I've shared her advice with many young physicians, including my daughter- noting it came from a remarkable lady.
With deepest sympathy,
Pat

Dear Susan and Bill: So very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. My deepest condolences. My brother Don's wife Barb was nice to send me the orbit which she just found. I would have come to the service if I had known in time.
Your Mom was such a wonderful person and neighbor. She and Bette Nowak were the only neighbors I kept in contact with and visited. She was always so welcoming and I can still hear her laugh. She was also very smart and remembered everything about the Strine Kids in the old days. I so enjoyed her company and our visits which I will now treasure. It was also fun to hear how you were both doing and the grandkids. She was so very proud of you both and loved those grandkids to pieces. I still remember those 2 adorable and nice kids on the corner with the beautiful white and red hair. Please know you are in our hearts at this difficult time.
Love
Marilyn

Betty, her Mom & children, Susan and Billy lived two doors down from us on Walzer Road. What an outstanding person she was! She was always kind to me. Billy (guess I should call him William now!) was one of two best friends I had on our road growing up. Many good memories - seems like a lifetime ago. May she be blessed in her new heavenly home and may Susan & William find peace in that.
With love and respect,
Brent Strine

We will miss you Miss Betty. It just won't be the same running around outside and playing in the yard and street knowing you are not there to keep a watchful eye over us. We always knew nothing real bad could happen because our special friend was always watching and if we were doing something wrong our parents would know by the next day. Thank you for always being there for us and always caring for us and our well being. We love you and will miss you deeply.

Our hearts are broken now. Miss Betty was like a grandmother to all of my kids from the moment we moved in across the street. She would watch as Liz every morning as she would walk to school. she watched over Maggie and Ryan as they waited for the bus. Kept an eye on them when they would play outside. For 15 years she was like a Guardian Angel when it came to my children, she would stop me almost on a weekly basis to tell how wonderful they are. And always wanting to know how everyone is doing. Now my kids have a true Angel watching over them everyday. We miss you dearly Betty. Our thoughts and prayers and love to the whole family at this time. Just know she is with God and the rest of her loved ones that have gone before her. She lived a rich life full of love. God Bless!

Susan: I was so sad to learn of the loss of your mother. We worked together at RGH for a number of years while she was in OPD and I was in Ambulatory Services. Of course, we knew one another from the neighborhood all throughout our childhood, school, and Girl Scouts. Mrs. Gibbens/Betty was always smiling and supportive for all the years I knew her but I will not stop thinking about her as I have on and off for many years. I hope you find comfort from your family during this difficult time.

Dear sweet "Aunt" Betty. You became such a dear friend. I admired you and was so proud to have had the opportunity to get to know you. Such a remarkable, loving and caring person who served our Country so bravely. I loved talking with you at our monthly dinners and was so honored that you gave me a copy of your book. I will cherish that book forever.
To Betty's family, God Bless all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
