I wish that I could be there to celebrate Uncle Dan's life with all of you but I am thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.
One of my favorite stories about Uncle Dan is when he was babysitting me and my older brother Woody when we were toddlers. My Uncle agreed to take care of us while my parents were busy at the hospital with the birth of my younger brother Joe. Uncle Dan got the call to come babysit after a late night of fun. He arrived and quickly fell asleep on the couch. When Uncle Dan woke he discover his sweet niece and nephew were safe and sound and having a lovely chocolate snack while sitting on the couch with him. Unfortunately, we used his new cashmere sweater as our napkin! Even though the cool sweater was a loss, Uncle Dan was the cool uncle;' he had a big convertible car and a great sense of humor.
When I was a young teen, I loved when Uncle Dan would pick me up on his motorcycle to babysit Danny and Matt. Of course, Aunt Vicki had to take me home because Uncle Dan had a little too much "pop" while they were out. He got me interested in motorcycles and I still share his love of riding.
Uncle Dan hired me for my first job and was my boss. He taught me a lot about business and wasn't afraid of nepotism.
Uncle Dan was a good father, husband, son, and uncle. I know he and Aunt Vicki, my Father and brother, and my grandparents are all together now playing a boisterous game of euchre.
Uncle Dan you are loved and missed.
