Kathy, Tony, Chris,
All of us in the Liput family want to pass on to you our condolences on the death of Ed. I know he was a fighter and like anything he did, fought it to the end. As I got older, I started to notice the frailties of my dad as he got older, but as any son would remember their dad, it was always through the eyes of a young boy. Dad's are larger than life, more like superman than a mere mortal human being. That is how I will remember Ed. We will keep all of you in my prayers.
Sincerely,
Rob Liput

Chief, thank you for your knowledge and keeping me safe all the years I worked under you. I just saw you the other day and we laughed and carried on when I had your back. Of course you ordered me to! Now you can say, hey to all the firefighters and hero's including my father, Jerry! Your not a hard man to find and my DaD was a Investigator you will meet up. GOD BLESS, GOD SPEED!

He was my wife's uncle. Nice guy enjoyable to talk to . It's unfortunate he was so reluctant to share his opinions.

I did have the opportunity of working along with Ed and his father George. I found them both to be very dedicated to there jobs. Ed was a hell of a firefighter and was highly respected as a boss. I'm glad that I had the chance to know them both. May god rest both of them.

I send my sincere condolences to the entire family. I had the honor and privilege to work for and along side of BIG Ed! He convinced me to take the Lieutenant's promotional exam and he was a inspiration and a mentor. His leadership abilities were very obvious, not only on the fire ground, but anywhere he happened to be. His dedication to the Rochester Fire Department was evident everyday he worked and he was always concerned for the safety and welfare of all firefighters that he commanded. He always spoke of his family (other then firefighters) with warmth and love! I consider myself to be a very lucky individual to have had the opportunity and pleasure to have known such a great man. Again, my condolences!

Kathy & Family:
We are so sorry to hear of Ed's passing on 6/20/17.
I remember Ed from the first Police Science class at Monroe Community College way back in 1964-1965 on Alexander Street.
I also remember working with Ed at the Beech-Nut Corp. at East Main and Palmer Street while we went to MCC together.
Yes, and I also remember his 1958 white Chevy Impala that the two of you used to ride around in back in the 1960's.
Ed was a real good guy and will be missed greatly. I'm just so glad that you both were able to attend the 50th Reunion of the Police Science class one year ago in June, 2016.
Rest in peace Ed. A job well done!
