George M. Reitter

Irondequoit: Monday, February 25, 2019.  Pre-deceased by his lovely wife and friend Raissa; parents, Michael and Katherine; sister, Helen; brother, Georg; daughter-in-law Ellen, granddaughter, Jennifer. He leaves his children, William, Richard (Patti), James, Keith (Cindy), Kevin and Laura ( Ted Heinrich). His grandchildren Michael, Jason (Rebekah), Kathleen ( David Peris), Elizabeth (John Snyder), Brian, Pamela (Robert Cadman), Alissa, Lindsay, Gregory and Jamie. Also his stepchildren Viktorija ( Paul Hunt) and Jolita (David Fornuto) and their children Aleksandr and Natalie, Caroline, Audrey and David.

 

He was born in Brooklyn in 1925 and raised in the Bronx. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post #16. He worked for Eastman Kodak Co. for 35 years in film processing and research. He and Raissa enjoyed the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Geva Theatre. He was a Scoutmaster for Troop 118 at Bethany Presbyterian Church for about five years, and after retirement volunteered at the George Eastman House and the Rochester Museum and Science Center. He also was pleased to help with the restoration of Hooker Cemetery.

Friends are invited to join the family for a memorial service at Hope Lutheran Church on Monday March 18, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Enjoy life, be kind and be of service to others. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to an organization of your choice.
