Please share a memory of Tamara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bilan, Tamara Lesia

Irondequoit: Tamara Bilan transitioned peacefully at home into The Good Lord's arms Sunday, October 20th, 2019. Despite her lifelong battle with diabetes and its complications, she persisted in trying to live life to the fullest. She was born February 1st, 1964, at Strong Memorial Hospital. Throughout her childhood she attended St. Josephat's Ukrainian Catholic grammar school and graduated from Irondequoit High School in 1982. She was active in the Ukrainian community, attending PLAST camp and Ridna Shkola during her younger years. Tamara was intrigued with children and child development but eventually received a degree in Dental Assisting. While pursuing her degree she worked part time at Wegman's in the bakery department where she took great pride in making birthday cakes for her customers to enjoy and creating great friendships, with Marybeth in particular. In spite of her illness, she never let an opportunity pass for fun and amusement. Being a perfect impersonator, she evoked great laughter from those who would listen to her impromptu performances. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and rarely deprived herself of sharing it with those who would listen. Tamara enjoyed cooking, baking, arts and crafts. She got her great love of flowers from her father Wasyl Bilan, who preceded her in passing and whom Tamara loved and adored. Tamara was the epitome of compassion, listening and offering words of encouragement to those who were enduring difficult times in spite of her own. Upon the passing of her father, she did her best to maintain the home in which she grew up in and to keep it as beautiful as it was while he was alive. She did this with painstaking effort and endurance. She was a champion in spite of her illness. Tamara was a beautiful human being, a profoundly loving daughter and sister. In her passing, she has left behind her mother, Barbara Bilan, brother Mark Bilan, sister, Donna Sheesley, brother-in-law Doug Sheesley, niece, Tanya Hall, Jason Collazo and their two sons, Giovani Rosa and Jordan Correa. She will be missed beyond measure.

Friends are invited to join the family Friday, October 25, 10:00 am at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church for her Divine Liturgy.
