Obituary of John R. Nevins
John R. Nevins "Nifty" Irondequoit: Suddenly on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the age of 65. Predeceased by his parents, Alex and Helen; father and mother-in-law, Douglas & Josephine Curran. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Jeanne; sons, Michael (Lisa), and Matthew (Stephanie); daughters, Michelle (Justin Fields), Meredith, Meghan, Marissa Nevins; grandchildren, Kenleigh, Madigan, and Genny Rose Nevins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Maureen Garbach, Daniel Curran, Patricia (Ron) Coles, James (Ellen) Curran, Joanne (Ray) Levato, Cathleen (Peter) Cup, and John Curran; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. John loved spending time at his family's cottage on Cuba Lake, fishing and taking boat rides. He enjoyed early morning rounds of golf with his sons. He adored his wife and children and was the most wonderful, fun grandfather. John was a lifelong fan of the Boston Celtics, Red Sox and Buffalo Bills (and will be rooting for them in next year's Super Bowl). He will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor and firm handshake. At the family's request, all guests are required to wear face masks. Upon entering the building guests will also be asked to use hand sanitizer. Thank you. His family will receive friends, Thursday June 25th, 4:00pm-8:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Friday, June 26th at 9:30am at St. Kateri at Christ the King for his funeral mass. Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
