So very sorry to hear this. When I was "in charge" of the Central on nights or weekends, I was always happy that Art was there on security. In retirement, I always went looking for him to have a chat. Such a good person.

Dear Bostwick Family,
I am sending condolences to you about Art. I really liked Art. I worked with him at Central Library, but here's a "kicker"; the whole time I worked with Art; I never knew his last name was Bostwick and that he graduated from Eastridge High School. I graduated from Eastridge High School in 1979. I am a classmate of sister, Val. What a small, small world we live in. I always thought he looked familiar, and now that I see the very nice picture you have selected for the obituary; I can see the resemblance to his sister. Once again, I am so sorry for your loss, & hope you post publicly for your future Celebration of Art's life. I would like to attend if I am able.
Sincerely,
Lisa Rogers

I am so sorry to hear of Art's passing. I worked with him at the Central Library, and this portion of his obituary brought a smile to my face, "Rumor has it that, on several occasions, Art did not use his “inside voice” while on duty at the library, resulting in what Art called “stern glances” from the librarians." I remember the mornings when I worked with him, he would call out and ask something to the effect of, "Are you ready to open?" His voice carries all the way through the library. Rest in Peace, Art.

I am so saddened to hear of Art's passing. Art was a great guy and well loved by his colleagues within the Monroe County Library System. He worked hard, cared about people and shared his great sense of humor to keep things light. He was a genuine Western New Yorker who wasn't bothered by the cold and loved his Sabres and a cold beer in the garage while watching the Sabres beat the Leafs 3-2. His amazing wife Mary has long been an extremely loyal and generous friend of my mother and my family and a loving and devoted wife to Art. I am sorry for your loss Mary but please know that I and many others are here for you as you have been there for us. I pray that Art is resting in peace and has found comfort and happiness after struggle.

Mary: I am so very sad to learn of Art’s passing. Everything about Art was big, his size, his sense of humor, his wonderful laugh and his views on politics which we shared. I will miss sitting in the garage with him sharing an adult beverage and solving the world’s problems. RIP Big Guy!

As a consistent patron of the Rochester Library, I got to know Art and so appreciated his friendliness, wit, and helpfulness. We shared many laughs and good chats. I've missed him there and am now saddened to read of his passing. May you find consolation in knowing he's at peace. He was indeed a fine man.
