I never knew David but knew of him as we both served as pilots in the 281st Assault Helicopter Company, he arrived shortly after my tour ended. Any time a veteran passes the lights get a bit dimmer, especially when it is someone who served with soldiers I knew. A life well lived, rest David.

To the extended Dean Family,
My name is Jack Interstein. I served with Dave in Vietnam 69-71 with 281st AHC. I served as a flight operations specialist. I come from NY so we always had something in common to talk about. You might even find my name at the bottom of some of his flight records which I handled for a short time. I always enjoyed Daves company, particularly when he served as OD and stayed in operations overnight, where I spent most of my first 15 months duty in country. Wish my memory was better. I can still picture Dave slowly walking into operations after a mission or checking out the next days mission later in the evening..I did speak to him once on the phone in the early 2000's, trying to get him to come to an annual reunion. No luck....for whatever reason but would hv been happy to make his reacquaintance under that more pleasant situation.
My Deepest condolences to his entire family upon their loss.

A wonderful man who accepted everyone, and made all feel so welcomed in his presence and home. My children well remember the countless birthday parties and other celebrations we enjoyed in Sue Ann and Dave's beautiful home. His magnetic personality and dry sense of humor was unique..A super Dad to his children and a fantastic Grandpa who loved his grandchildren as much as his children, never missing an opportunity to teach and spend precious time with them..
His legacy is a life well-lived and a wealth of precious memories for his grandchildren. God bless you, Dave.

My condolences to all of the family especially Matt and Carrie. Dave has been a long time friend. Our friendship started in 1977 at Kodak in B-326. Our paths crossed many times after. Then in 2002, I realized he was a customer here at George and Bob's. We shared many good time reminising about the past and having alot of laughs. Dave you will be missed here. RIP!... Paul Kuchman

So sorry for your loss. Looks like Dave was a very “hands-on” Dad and grandpa. He will certainly be missed by all of you. He has done many things and seen many sunsets since growing up in West Walworth. Prayers for all!

Matt and family. Please accept our deepest condolences. Dave was a great guy whom I was fortunate to call a friend for forty years while at Kodak.
We had many laughs at Kodak and PineBay.

Remembering today an amazing man who formed a huge part of my childhood. I always felt welcomed in his home and learned so much from him. He could do anything he set his mind to and was truly a jack of all trades. He could work with people, computers and with his hands, creating countless items and transforming many spaces for the better. He could talk to anyone and his varied life experiences gave him such admirable perspective. He was an excellent cook! Dave was so many things to so many people, and I am grateful to have known him and loved him. Thanks for all the memories. xoxo

I stayed with my cousin Lil at my aunt Betty and uncle Jim’s in the summer sometimes. All us kids worked hard weeding gardens etc but all my cousins made it fun. I always thought David was cute and funny. In later years we reconnected when our cousin Robins wife Ellen died. He spent the whole day with me and my husband Larry after the morning service. He was still the most witty, intelligent, and interesting of people. We visited him once he started having strokes and were impressed by the tenacity he exhibited working his way back to baseline. I was nervous to visit fearing his special wit would be gone but I didn’t need to be. He made me laugh so much. I love David very much and his death has hit hard. I loved following abuelo and his ventures with his grands. It is earths loss and heavens gain and I pray well be together again. I hope him and my brother Marty can fish or just hang out.
