Obituary of Emily Nakas

Irondequoit: On October 22, 2020, Emily Nakas, loving mother of four children, passed away at the age of 95. Emily was born on August 22, 1925 in Rochester, NY to Josef and Michalina Bogdan. She was married to Vytautas Nakas and had four children, James, Donna, Margaret, Edward. Emily, a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Stanislaus Church, was a fun-loving, generous, caring, charismatic person, always quick with a joke and truly loved by all who had the good fortune to know her. Being of Polish heritage, our "Matka" was a master pierogi-maker and spoke fluent Polish. She will be missed more than she could ever imagine. She was preceded in death by husband Vytautas, six siblings, and by her daughter, Donna LaMarche. She is survived by her son, James (Anne); daughter, Margaret (Kevin); son, Edward (Jenny), 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sister, Elanor Staszak with son Gary (Elizabeth); nephews, Richard Nawrocki (Michelle) and David Bogdan, close family friend, Bruce Basile, and son-in-law Gary LaMarche. A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at 12:00 noon at St. Stanislaus Church. Masks are required. Interment private. Donations may be sent to St. Stanislaus Church Memorial Fund or Lifetime Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Joseph A. Klein.
