My deepest sympathies to John's family. I learned of his death and funeral only by chance this morning at 2am. I'm not on social media and I was on the Internet trying once again to find contact info for John and his brother Jerry when I learned of his death. Such is life. I have the fondest childhood memories, especially teenage years, of John and Jerry. We roamed the streets and river banks of Rochester like The Little Rascals. We were inseparable, very mischievous and, yes, often in trouble. Children of Ukrainian immigrants, we were closer than most brothers ever could be. My fondest childhood memories will always be the times spent with John and Jerry. I will always remember John as funny, fun-loving, generous and kind. He was also very sensitive, warm and sentimental. Unfortunately, I've been away from Rochester for most of the past 50 years, living in Virginia and often overseas, and long ago lost contact with John but recalled him fondly and with a smile countless times over the years. When I think of him now I'm not saddened. Rather, a smile comes to my face when I recall all the fond memories I'll always have of him and our many intense years together. I hope that Jerry and other family members will not hesitate to call me to share intimate remembrances of John.Walter Parchomenko, Arlington VA, volodya96@gmail.com
