Joe Magro was a thoroughly delightful man. I had the privilege of getting to know him as a friend of his youngest, Bob. He was accomplished in his own right, but he was modest about his achievements. He was, however, proud as a peacock about the many and varied achievements of his kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren. He and Ange were a remarkable matched set. It was a privilege to know the..

I was Joe's chaplain at Laurelwood on the Highlands Campus in Pittsford. I enjoyed Joe's stories of WWII and cracked up when he reminisced about coming home to America after being at sea for a few years. Joe loved when I said "ABSOLUTELY" he said it was his favorite word. His stories about RG&E were priceless. Joe loved people and you felt it when he spoke. Joe also loved music and when we sang together, he would stop and reflect remarking that a certain song was the most beautiful set of lyrics and melody. Joe was generous with his BIG heart. It was an honor to be his chaplain for 3 years. God Bless You Joe...I miss you everyday and sometimes I think you're gonna come around the corner with that great big infectious smile. You are sorely missed my friend. Chaplain Steve Petrovich

To the wonderful family of Mr. Magro. You have our deepest sympathies. Mr. Magro, his infectious smile, and his huge heart have always been one of our sweetest memories. He and Mrs. Magro have always been generous and kind to us.
One time, my husband was visiting Bob and came home with a new set of sneakers. (The back story is that we were -are- very frugal, in those days finances were very tight. My husband tended to wear sneakers until there was nothing left) When I inquired about them, he said, Mr. Magro literally gave him the shoes off his feet. Of course, he did it in a loving and kind way.
Walking into the Magro home was like walking into family from the very first moment you met them. Mr. and Mrs. Magro will always hold a huge place in my heart.
We are so sorry for your loss. I have no doubt that they are close, loving you always. Our deepest sympathies and love are with you all. Brian & Susan Duffy
