My deepest sympathy to Harriet, Bert, Rosalind and those grandchildren upon Bert's passing. Bert and his family were parishioners at St. Mark's and St. John's Church in Rochester. I knew Bert as a caring, loving soft spoken gentleman. He was especially kind and helpful to my wife Grace providing insight and thoughtful advice in her role as Church Warden. Bert often appeared on Wednesdays to help set up and distribute food and supplies at our Church's neighborhood food shelf, a program initiated by Grace and Gerry Sanders. I last spoke with Bert when he graciously called and offered condelences on Grace' s passage. He was most kind and sincere as always.
May Bert rest in peace in the House of our Lord

My deepest condolences are sent to the Alexander family. I had the distinct pleasure of working under Mr. Alexander as a new teacher many years ago at Douglas Middle School. I could not have asked for a kinder or more supportive principal at the beginning of my career.

Today marks the going home ceremony of a well-respected and admired member of the Memorial AME Zion Church family. Bro.Bert Alexander was not a mentor and model to this church family. This beacon of light shone throughout the community.
Unfortunately, Clayton and I were not able to physically be present at the formal ceremony. However, our spirit is there, and the
grieving resides with us. We share the pain and sorrow with the family and friends.
One of the honorable attributes / characteristics that Bert exemplified that Clayton admired was his calm. poise and tempered words in debatable and stressful situations.
His physical departure from this world should not take away his SPIRIT that will reside with us as we journey on until we meet in the eternal world. Hence this quote we abide by.
"Those we love don't go away: they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear."

Mrs. Alexander and family,
My family and I were saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. Alexander. He was an influential presence during our time at Franklin HS, and our father had a great deal of respect for him as a colleague and a friend. He touched thousands of lives in a positive and impactful manner. I have always thought of both of you as role models and wonderful examples of what we should all aspire to be. Thank you for being such great educators and role models.
Please know that you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Bert was a long time family friend. When you met up with him, either at Wegman's or during the Corn Hill Festival, he greeted you with his big smile and a very firm hand shake. He was a kind and caring person. My parents, Helen and Edward, were good friends. I always enjoyed seeing him and asking what he was doing. I will miss him. Rest peacefully. John Becker (Victor)

Bert Alexander was my guidance counselor at Franklin High School. He was always supportive. He would take time to talk with you, but you had to walk with him and he had a FAST gate. He wrote in my high school yearbook: "Keep trusting in God and always do the best you can. You never know who's watching you." As it turns out if was he would be watching. I have always been excited to see him at EVERY concert given by the Morehouse College Glee Club in Rochester since I became director. I will miss him the next time. May he rest in power and peace. Prayers to his family for comfort and peace.
Sincerely,
David Morrow
