Obituary of Michael R. Grandusky
Michael Richard Grandusky, 76, of Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on January 24th, 2021 in the comfort of his own home, with his wife by his side. Mike was born on October 1st, 1944 in Olean, New York, to his parents Joseph Richard and Mary Jane Grandusky.
In 1975, he met Vivian, and they went on to get married on August 16th, 1976. Mike welcomed Vivian's three children with love and open arms, and cared for them as if they were his own, and together they raised a beautiful family.
Mike served two years in the United States Army. He toured all over Europe and got to experience many different countries and their cultures. He was extremely talented in electrical and machine skills and his school reports reflected this. He would hand write and build his own electrical schematics by himself.
After the military, Mike had a 35 year career at Otis Elevators. After retiring in 2003, Mike spent his time taking family vacations, hosting friends and family for clam bakes, football games, holidays, and other large parties. He was a season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills and attended many games throughout the years. Mike loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and cherished vacations, dinners, and other special occasions with his wife. Mike was the most generous and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary Jane Grandusky. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Vivian Grandusky, sister Marianne (Bill) Rodgers, children Richard Battaglia Jr., Michelle Levesque, and Karen Claffey, Son in Law Dave Claffey, Grandchildren Samantha (Jim) Lake, Josette (Ron) Thorington, Jayme (Adam) Jennings, Christine Brumfield, Karlie (Jonathan) Claffey, Romeo Levesque, 3 great grandchildren and extended family in Buffalo, New York.
There will be no calling hours at this time. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Veterans' Outreach Center, 459 South Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620.
