We are sending our late heartfelt sympathies to the Cylwicki family and loved ones. We are very sure St. John Fisher College and his Basilian family will have difficulty filling the hole in there heart. I met Father Al through my involvement in Motorsports. We would keep in touch quite often when he was in Rochester. When he came to Detroit to assist The IndyCar Ministry he would stay at the Basilica of Sainte Anne de Détroit. The second oldest Catholic Church in America. The race weekend I escorted him around the circuit. He told me Indy Car was his most favorite sport. His spirit and personality was contagious and I just loved him. I was heart broken to get a call back from John Fisher College this morning informing me of his passing. He is with our Lord and running a marathon on the streets of Gold with no pain. God Bless you Father Al and thank you for being our friend. Rest in health Father.
Sincerely,
Thad

I have known Father Al my entire life. He was my mothers first cousin, and he became a dear friend to me once I started working on the family tree. He used to help out at a church in California and would always come and stay over night with us on the way. Once he came to one of my computer classes at the library. We had a grand old time! This is a fond farewell to a great guy. My heart is broken.

I am the daughter in law of Fr. Al's nephew, David.
We live in Virginia Beach, VA. It was amazing to see past students or priests he knew from all over the country, converge at same Mass and space here in VA. All were "unplanned paths" but God lead them to met again. One lady was from school he taught in Gary, IN (?). A Franciscan priest he had not seen in decades, both of them at my church in VB. They would have missed seeing each other had Fr. Al gone out the door he planned, but turned back toward the same hallway.
We thank everyone who made such an spot in his heart. He loved the travels and paths he was lead! God Bless and Thank you!

Please accept condolences on the passing of Fr. Cylwicki from a former student. I had Fr. Cylwicki for both Algebra and Trigonometry at Andrean High School in Merrillville , Indiana. I graduated in 1969 and I took the math skills I learned from him to Purdue University with me.I really enjoyed his classes, he was great teacher and motivator. He will be fondly remembered by those of us NINERS who were luckly enough to have him as a teacher (or a coach).
