Obituary of Paul J. Driscoll

Please share a memory of Paul to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On September 13, 2020, Paul Joseph Driscoll passed away quietly at the Longmont United Hospital Hospice Center. He was born February 25, 1958 to James Raymond and June (Spindler) Driscoll in Rochester, N.Y.

Paul attended Christ the King Elementary School where he served as an alter boy. He attended West Irondequoit High School, graduating in 1976. He became active in Pop Warner football and was a star kicker. Paul also became accomplished at skiing. Always being social, Paul started working as a waiter in high school at the local steak house, developing charm at a young age. Paul also inherited the Spindler family sense of humor, but had his own spin on it.

Paul attended some classes at Rochester's Monroe Community College, and abandoned that in favor of moving to Redondo Beach, California with friends. He landed a job as waiter at the Redondo Beach Chart House, putting charm, humor and good looks to work. Both the restaurant and his apartment were right on the beach. He stayed over 15 years. During this time Paul also worked on his second occupation, trading in classic firearms.

Paul was a trader and collector of high-grade shotguns. Many of these guns had delicate engraving and were works of art. This interest began when Paul was 12 years old. He continued to develop his knowledge of classic firearms throughout his lifetime. Several of his articles were published in trade journals and magazines. Paul also began hunting at a young age, so naturally took several trips to Wyoming when he lived in California. Paul had a network of hunting and gun buddies that spanned several states, including Vermont, New York and Colorado. When visiting Rochester, Paul would always trek to Vermont to do some gun trading and hunting. In Colorado he always participated with his friends in the annual October pilgrimage to Elk Camp. While in California, he met Sophia, the future mother of his son. Colorado was now beckoning. Paul had always enjoyed winter snow, the changing seasons and the outdoors. In Colorado he enjoyed being a father and raising his son Parker, who was the center of his life. Paul's goal was to be a good Dad to Parker. Paul enjoyed participating in Parker's baseball games, music concerts and robotics competitions. Paul is survived by his son Parker, sister Jane Driscoll of Louisville CO, her daughter Celeste, sister Marianne's children Teresa, Tara and Aaron, and lots of Spindler cousins and an aunt in the Rochester N.Y. area. The numerous Driscoll cousins are spread out across the country. He is predeceased by sister Marianne, brother John, parents Ray and June.

Calling Hours will be held Saturday June 26th from 12:00pm - 2:00pm at the Harris Funeral Home. Interment will be at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Paul will be laid to rest with his siblings, parents and grandparents.
