Rochester: Unexpectedly on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 39. Benjy is survived by his mother, Irma Negron; father, Ruben Ruiz; brothers, Ruben and Angel Ruiz; sisters, Melinda Ruiz, Adabel (Marco) Ruiz, Nancy (Gary Rolon) Ruiz; niece, Andrea Ruiz; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.
Benjamin Ruiz also fondly known as Benjy and “Benny Wise” will be remembered by his great smile, humor and his kindness. Most people will remember him as very funny and always cracking jokes, however, his immediate family will also remember him as loving, passionate about his hobbies and the love he had towards his family.
Benjy was born in Rochester April 29th, 1982. Some years down the road his father Ruben Ruiz retired from Kodak and decided to move his family to Puerto Rico for a new beginning. He then graduated from High school in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. Soon thereafter, he decided to move to Rochester, New York where he found a new journey to start. He found a great job in town that lasted 14 years. There he got up extra early just to sit down and have a nice cup of Joe just before his shift. He went and did this for the years to come, creating many friendships with the people along the way.
Benjy was devoted to his family and friends and to the love of his life....Riding. Here Benjy found a new passion in life and love for the road. Joined a great group of bike riders named the Lower 9. These men and women became another family for Benjy. With them he learned new Biker skills and enjoyed joyful parties with other biker affiliates. During his life experience Benjy acquired the wisdom to help others and give a lending hand, earning him the title of Benny Wise. With that said Benjy created a welcoming environment for anyone who needed an ear or shoulder to cry on.
No one was ever able to capture his beautiful heart truly, so he devoted it to family, friends and his hobbies. Benjy will truly be missed by all of his family members, and the many friends near and far.
His family will receive friends Friday, October 15, 4-7pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Saturday, October 16, 9:00 am at St. Michael's Church for his funeral mass. Interment Riverside Cemetery.
