The entire Gans family is at a loss of words and filled with a hollow sadness. Charlie was such an important part of our lives. We were so looking forward to our future retirement time with Charlie and Rene'. A friendship that cannot be described. He knew all my idiosyncrasies and he accepted me and made me realize in a very comfortable and humorous way how ridiculous I was acting by giving me that great laugh and huge smile, and we would both break out in laughter! We know how special you were to the entire family when our kids heard the news and were heartbroken also. They were concerned on how we were handling the news as they knew we were hurting. My son said the world lost a serious character in that fella.
We have great memories of working together, vacations, trips, and boating in our youth, into the current years. All the memories are filled with laughter and love. It is a void that will never be filled, but we are blessed to have had his great friendship and love that he showed for me my wife and my kids and dogs.
We know Rene' and the kids will be strong and carry on as he would want them to. He was so proud and had such love for Virginia and Charlie Jr and Rene' and was always there for them. His size 8 shoe will be a size 14 to fill for them but I know they will carry on with their love and memories of their wonderful Dad.
Since he loved to tease me about being his only Jewish friend I went out of my way to teach him about frugality and spending, He didn't listen! He lived life in full and always bought the best of everything. Every man will die but some never really live, Charlie lived life to the fullest!
We love you Chuckie LaRocca and may your memory be a blessing!! You will never be forgotten and you will always be missed
We are so blessed to have had your friendship all these years.
Love,
Mark, Ellen, Greg and Jennifer Gans

Rene', Virginia, Charlie Jr., and family - Barb and I were only fortunate enough to know Chuck for the four years he and Rene' summered at Vine Valley Park. However, those years were long enough to realize that he was a special human being. You covered all of his wonderful attributes in his touching, albeit painful obituary. I will not endeavor to expand on that eloquence. I hope my message to you will be adequate if I say simply... Chuck was a rare human being who combined the ability to love deeply and show that love to all he cared about. He wore those traits on his always smiling face. Those who had just met him were disarmed by his genuine smile, infectious zest for life, strong handshake and open demeanor. Anyone who met him wanted to get to know him better. He had the ability to wrap every moment and every conversation in his unique brand of humor. His smile sold who he was before he ever opened his mouth or his heart. Barb and I will miss him dearly. We will decorate the hole he has left in our hearts with all the wonderful memories accumulated over the years we knew him. We know his lingering love and energy will help you find the path to living with his loss.

I am shocked to hear of the passing of Charlie. We're both from the same neighborhood, and attended Aquinas together. I worked many years in various restaurants throughout the city. Fond memories of Charlie coming in to take an order with huge smile always. R.I.P. Brother.

Chuck, you were one of the highlights of my week during my time working restaurants in the city. A call, text, or pop in from you every week like clockwork was the standard. You sir, were consistent professionalism and I am stunned to hear of your passing. God speed sir, and rest well. The Rochester restaurant world lost a great man this week.
