Obituary of Rita Charczenko

Charczenko, Rita of Rochester, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward and son, Gregory. She is survived by her loving daughter, Natalie (Daniel Sadler) Charczenko and numerous other relatives. Rita's family immigrated from Ukraine to Austria, where she was born on January 17, 1946. Rita and her parents, Jakiw and Olga Kipkalo traveled from Austria to Brazil where they lived for 10 years, eventually coming to Rochester in the 50's. Rita graduated from Benjamin Franklin high school and shortly after met the love of her life, Edward and were married on August 31, 1969. Gregory was born in August 1970 and Natalie in July 1974. They briefly lived in New Jersey, ultimately settling in Irondequoit, NY. Rita spoke many languages including Ukrainian and Portuguese. Rita's greatest joy was her family. She was the heart of the family and chose to be a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. Rita stayed true to her roots and the Ukrainian culture and traditions, celebrating the Orthodox holidays, attending the yearly festivals and enjoying the Ukrainian cuisine. Rita loved animals, summer, nature, shopping, music, old movies, cooking and tasting new foods, the lake, taking walks, and was always up to date with news and current events. Rita enjoyed talking with everyone she met, wanting to know all about them. She touched so many people with her love, care and compassion. Her devout faith, her strength, and love for her family got her through many challenges and heartbreaks. A true inspiration on how to live. Her most used quotes were "Be careful", "Trust God", and "Dress warm". The family would like to acknowledge the Strong Palliative Care (4-1200) Unit for the extaordinary care and compassion that was given to Rita and her family. Friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home (570 Kings Hwy South) on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 10AM to 11AM. Panachyda services will follow at 11AM. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to an animal rescue or a worthy cause of your choice.
