Obituary of Mary Ellen Rickert
Mary Ellen Rickert
Died December 27th, 2021. She was born in Oak Park Illinois on the 4th of July, to Marvin and LaVohn Isvik. She grew up in Klemme Iowa and Omaha Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Omaha in mathematics, and completed many credits towards a degree from the University of Minnesota in education. She married Michael Rickert on Friday the 13th.
They moved to Rochester and had 3 children. Sean (Cindy) of Arizona, Eric (Kristin) of Buffalo, and NatEllen "Nekr" (Chris) Jenkins of Massachusetts. She was "Mormor" to six wonderful grandchildren, and four darling great grandchildren. She was a docent at WXXI and RMSC, taught senior aquafit and refereed many swim meets at Maplewood Y, was an accomplished storyteller, an excellent stained glass worker, and enjoyed wood turning. She was active in The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, and sang in the Choir for many years.
In retirement she and Mike traveled extensively, visiting China, India, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Australia ,South Africa, Botswana, Victoria Falls, Easter Island, Machu Pichu, Igasu Falls, and much of Europe and the United States. She lived a life filled with love and made memories all over the world, she will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.
