JOHN BRUNETTE posted a condolence

Our condolences to John's family. We are saddened to read of John's passing. He was our mailman on Hartsdale Rd. for many years. He was kind and cordial. The mail was delivered with a smile and a 'Hello'! He saw (and read?) my Cleveland Browns Newspaper and we began to talk about the good teams they had back in decades past. I cannot blame John for jumping to the Bills! He and his family will be kept in prayer!

I was deeply saddened to learn of John’s passing. I went to grammar school with John at St. John’s the Evangelist, on Ridge Rd. In Greece; then, on to Aquinas Institute with him. We rode many a Ridge Rosd RTC bus together from Long Pond Rd. to Dewey Ave. on our treks to AQ. John was always a nice guy and a I considered him a good friend. I’m sure he will be deeply missed by many. RIP John.
Sincerely, John F. DeMarle

My condolences to Jack’s family.
Growing up I knew him as Jackie. Jackie and I are second cousins with his Mom Sid being my dad’s cousin. I have fond childhood memories spending overnights at the Wehner’s Long Pond Rd home on the Vermeire farm. We would listen to radio shows of the Lone Ranger and other offerings. Also play board games. Sid and John were always so nice to me. Jackie would also spend overnights at our house In Irondequoit.
We lost touch in high school, but enjoyed those years growing up together and comparing notes on school, baseball, and family.
Doing some ancestry work I discovered that parents John and Sid Wehner’s gravesite is next to my Aunt Bertha VerColen’s in Gates.
In adulthood I have thought of Jackie often, wondering what his life was like. So happy to read about his family. I see he and I shared a love of golf.
I wish we knew each other as adults, but I will forever appreciate the childhood times we spent together.
