Megargle, Stella H.

Irondequoit: Beloved wife for 61 years of Robert B. Megargle, daughter of the late Herbert A. and Helen K. Hulsberg, and sister of John Hulsberg, passed away peacefully at age 81 on Monday, May 2, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son Douglas Megargle. Stella is survived by her daughters Lynn Gilleland and Gail Tucker, their husbands Ross Gilleland and Matthew Tucker, and Doug's wife Christine Deal. Stella is also survived and much loved by her six grandchildren: Lauren and Eva Gilleland, Jared and Gavin Tucker, and Julia and Sophia Megargle. Stella was born in Clarendon Hills, Illinois and lived her later childhood in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She attended Penn State University and University of Rochester, became a devoted wife, mother and a public health nurse for Monroe County for over 20 years. Stella was a selfless, compassionate woman who always went above and beyond to help her friends, family and others. She devoted many years to serving as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children in Rochester and was very active at her Summerville Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for over 50 years. She enjoyed travel, family vacations, cooking, singing in the church choir, reading and book clubs, and rug hooking.

At the family's request, all guests are required to wear face masks. Upon entering the building guests will also be asked to use hand sanitizer. Thank you.

Friends will be welcomed at visitation hours on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So). The family will hold a private family burial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stella's honor at WWXI and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO).
