She cherished her children, Jean (Dana) Henderson, J.Joseph (Debra) Hanss, Julie (Keith) Hoover, Jeffrey (Eileen) Hanss.
She was blessed with 10 grandchildren. Andraya (Christopher) Lester, Jordan (Danielle) Henderson, Kirsten (Jonathan) Larson, Erin (Kyle) Muench, John J. (Kathryn) Hanss; Brandon (Meg) Hoover, Justin (Lisa) Hoover, Colin Hoover, Andrew Hanss, Katherine Hanss.
Always a joy were her precious 15 great-grandchildren.
She was the big sister to Richard (Patricia) Marx. She also leaves nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Joan was a registered nurse until she took on what she considered the greatest job, a mother and home maker. Her favorite craft was knitting. She made all her children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren Christmas stockings. Her knitting group made hats and mittens for various Rochester area schools. She and Jack raised their children in Irondequoit, and eventually downsized to Greece, NY. Their circle of friends in Rochester was a treasure to them. They loved being snowbirds in Port St. Lucie, Flordia, and had many friends there. After Jack passed, Joan moved to Chapel Oaks where she enjoyed the companionship of many.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral mass 11:30am Friday, June 3rd at St. Ann's Chapel, 1550 Portland Ave. Mask required. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ann's Chapel Oaks Community, American Diabetes Association, or Golisano Children's Hospital in Joan's memory.
