I was deeply saddened Sunday when I read about Carmen Gaziano’s passing. Besides my immediate family Carmen and his brother Anthony (Ninny) were probably my oldest friends. We’d meet up in the morning, call on Anthony Loncao next door and the four of us would start the day’s adventure. Great times and memories on Union St and the Public Market. When we were older we both worked at DiPasquale Shoe Co. and Carmen became a craftsman. He carried that craft to his own shop on Norton St. for many years. On occasional visits to just say hello or to get a pair of shoes repaired I could always depend on a warm welcome and that sly smile. I wish I had visited more often. One word to describe Carmen is “gentleman” a gentle man. My condolences to his wife Nancy and his family.
