Mary Margaret O'Brien Kernan

Irondequoit: Monday, October 17, 2022 at age 89. Predeceased by her husband, John F. Kernan. Mary is survived by her children, Mary Catherine (Ken Stanzione) Kernan, John J. Kernan, Patricia (David) Ferrante, Kathleen (Edward) Fowler, William Kernan Sr., Theresa (Ken) Shoemaker, Kevin (Tiffany) Kernan, Thomas (Michele) Kernan; grandchildren, Kaitlin (Brendan Gibbs) Kernan Herbert, Molly Kernan Herbert, Emily (Casey) Bianchi, Nicholas Ferrante, Theresa (Brendan) Cacciola, EJ Fowler, Madison Fowler, William Kernan Jr., Olivia Kernan, Alex Shoemaker, Matthew Shoemaker, Brock Shoemaker, Morrisey Kernan, John Aloysius Kernan, Katherine Kernan, Erin Shea Kernan, Nathan Kernan; great-grandsons, Parker Thomas Bianchi, Cameron Charles Gibbs; sister-in-law, Edna Vay; numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was a true New Yorker from Astoria who took great pride in raising a close and loving family.  Her quick wit and loving nature made a lasting impression and brought comfort to whomever she met.  Mary’s favorite past time was entertaining loved ones at her home on the St. Lawrence River where she enjoyed sunset cruises on her antique wooden boat (“My Fair Lady”), eating ice cream and sipping a Drambuie while laughing around the bonfire.  Mary is now where she was always happiest; reunited with her loving husband John.   

Her family will receive friends Sunday, October 23, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to join the family Monday, October 24, 10:30 am at Holy Cross Church for her funeral mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
