Obituary of Julian Karr
Karr, Julian "Jul" passed away on Monday, March 13, 2023. Julian was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Ewelina (Prokopovich) Karr. Jul is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Roe, and his step-daughter, Sally E. Buchheimer. In addition he leaves behind a foster daughter, Jennifer Banning Tomas. Julian deeply valued his lifelong friendships with "The Boys" from high school.
Julian was born on April 6, 1951 in Bristol, England. He graduated from Irondequoit High School and also attended two colleges, Nazareth and St John Fisher. Jul never minded that he finished six credits shy of a Bachelor's degree. He simply spent ten years studying color as a fine artist.
As a career Julian produced art in acrylics and watercolor. His work was both realistic and mysterious. In his free time, Julian started growing orchids around age 30 and never stopped. He was a fabulous cook and a mellow host.
Julian played a Fender Stratocaster built in early 1965. For a time he played lead guitar player in the band "Loud Neighbor," but always cherished the time he spent with friends in an informal jam session. Julian, like many of his time, left the Catholic church but he maintained a close relationship with Jesus, especially the Baby Jesus. Jul was both honored and astonished to be embraced in person by Shri Shri Muktananda and given the ancient name "Eklavye."
Friends are invited to join the family for a celebration of Life for Julian on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:30AM at the Asbury First United Methodist Church (1050 East Ave, Rochester, NY 14607). Memorial Gathering will follow the services from 12 to 2 PM. Interment will take place at Whitehaven Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
