Obituary of Kevin Michael Maguire
Kevin Michael Maguire 5/11/97 – 3/30/23
Died peacefully, surrounded by his family after a brief battle with pneumonia, and a six-year war with quadriplegia. Predeceased by his paternal grandparents Thomas and Mary Ellen Maguire, his maternal grandmother Sharon Scantlin, and his Aunt Sheila Maguire. Survived by his parents Dennis and Shelly, his sisters Molly, Bridget and Kate, his dogs Louie and Hazel, his maternal grandfather and countless aunts, uncles and cousins from the Maguire, Winnick, Spencer, Hoke, Foster and Mckelvie/Wheeler families.
Kevin loved fishing, road trips to Tompkins County, cars, skiing, music, and most of all, lacrosse. He enjoyed great personal and team success during high school, culminating in a Sectional championship, of which he was very proud. He earned a Division 1 scholarship to St Johns University in Queens, NY
His life was dramatically changed in 2017 when he suffered a spinal cord injury while working. He lived every day of the next six years in pain, but fought on and remained positive. His tolerance for pain amazed us. His family would like to thank his friends, who never left him, his nurses for their incredible care and compassion, and his extended family (especially Aunt Mo) for always being there for him. The warrior can finally rest, after years of being #MaguireStrong
His family will receive friends on Monday 4/10/23 at Paul W Harris Funeral Home, (570 King's Highway So.) from 3:00 – 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday 4/11/23 at 10:00 am at Saint Kateri Parish Christ the King Church, (445 Kings Hwy So.).
