The very first time that I ever met Jack was when I was a new Fire Explorer at Ridge-Culver back in 1971. Our explorer post was using Pt. Pleasant's training grounds for an upcoming Fire Explorer tournament, and Jack was there to help (and advise) us, since Pt. Pleasant, (at that time), did not have an explorer post. He gave us great "tips and tricks" on how to be very proficient in the "tournament lifestyle," and even gave us our first real pair of brass nozzles to use that he was saving for a "rainy day." I always respected this man throughout my carer as a firefighter and officer at Ridge-Culver. May God bless Jack and his earthly family for eternity! Thank you Chief! Gary LaBarr
