Doug was a simple man, and I mean “simple” in the most complimentary way. He loved his family and he was a good friend. I regret that we did not see him more than a couple of weeks in the Adirondacks in the summer, but what an impression those few weeks left. You don’t meet many people in life who impress you so profoundly, but Doug was certainly one such person. We were truly blessed to have known Doug and Nancy and their family. Rest in peace.

My heart is happy that he is holding Nancy as I write this and he's probably teasing his mother-in-law who he affectionately called "Rosie". But my heart is also sad for all of his loved ones that have to wait until it's our turn in order to see him again. He truly was Mr. Kodak and I watched him planting flowers at what use to be Jim and Gills gas station on Culver Road. He did such a beautiful job. I received a surprise envelope from him 3 days ago with a nice note and several pictures of my mom as a little toddler, my dear Aunt Rose and my Uncle Kenny. Those pictures boosted my spirits so much that day. I had every intention to call him today and thank him for thinking of me. So I am thanking you now Doug for thinking of me and please give all of our loved ones a hug. You will be so missed by your beautiful family and friends.

Doug and I were friends and classmates at Irondequoit High. We were in several classes together and shared a lot of laughs. My deepest sympathy to his family. His obituary was such a fine tribute to a really nice guy. May he rest in peace. Sincerely, Judith Ann Ruf, Las Vegas, NV
