I met Tom when I first started at Xerox in 1974. We worked on the same program, 6500 color copier. Tom was a ball buster but was also a very competent tech, who could go from ball busting to serious about his work in a flash; like throwing a light switch. I learned a lot from him, both ways. At some point after, he got to working with stained glass and made Tiffany Lamps; he made one for my wife which I still have. Tom had a big heart and I was sad to hear of his recent health issues but hopeful he would pull through. Very sad for his loss. He WAS one of a kind.
