Jayne E. Sparrazza, 99, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024 in her home in Rochester, NY. Born on March 14, 1925, Jayne was the daughter of the late Edward F. and Ella (Regan) Eber. Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her great grandson Corbin, brother, John Eber, her first husband, Robert Young, and her husband of 24 years, Salvatore (Sal) Sparrazza.
Jayne is survived by her three sons: Robert (Tina) Young, David (Mary Elizabeth) Young, and Craig Young. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Eber, and her grandchildren, Sean (Krista) Young, Jason (Shana) Young, Carolyn (Marc) Hojnowski, Nora (Matty) McGovern, Johanna (Tom) Whittaker, Michael and Vincent Young, as well as her great-grandchildren: Rosseux, Finley, Ruby, Phillip, Gemma, Brittin, Chatham, Brantley, Briggs, and Chanlyn.
Jayne was a member of Holy Rosary Church in Rochester, NY, where her grandparents had been founding members in the 1890s. During the 1960s, she supported her sons in Cub Scouts by serving as a den mother for Pack 101. During the winter, she would many times, get up at 4:30 am to help Dave and Craig with their D&C paper routes. Jayne worked for many years as an administrative assistant for Security Trust Company (later acquired by Fleet Bank), gaining lifelong friends among her coworkers. She greatly enjoyed entertaining family and friends, both in Rochester and in Naples, Fl., where Jayne and Sal moved in the late 1980s.
During their time in Florida, Jayne delighted in hosting and attending a local Bridge Club and Quilting Club, where she was able to engage her skills among friends. Jayne returned to Rochester in 2011 and remained there for her remaining thirteen years. She loved to write notes to long-distance grandchildren and always had her yarn and knitting needles nearby, ready to finish off a growing scarf as a gift for a family member. When she was able, she attended Mass at St. Margaret Mary church and enjoyed drives along Lake Ontario in the summer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday April 5, 2024, at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 Rodgers Parkway, Rochester, NY 14617. Burial will be in the Regan family plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester, NY.
