Lorraine Steiner

Obituary of Lorraine Steiner

Steiner, Lorraine Zamiara, formerly of West Webster, NY, passed away on May 2nd, 2024 in Richmond, VA, where she had lived since 2008.  Lorraine, 94 years old, was born to Helena and Julian Zamiara of Rochester NY.  She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Roy R. Steiner.  Their home on Bay Road was always a welcoming place for extended family and friends, and full of animals, hunting and fishing gear, hockey skates, laughter and love.

Lorraine graduated from Franklin High School in Rochester and worked for several years at Eastman Kodak Co.  Later, she worked as a cafeteria aide at Bay Road Elementary School.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening and, especially, reading.  Spending time doing family activities was very important to her.  This included always catching the biggest fish while out on the boat and spending time in her beloved Adirondack Mountains.

Lorraine relocated to Richmond, Virginia to embark on a new adventure in an independent living community where she enjoyed myriad activities and made many new friends.  Whether it was calling Bingo, playing Bunco or Hand and Foot card games, or leading The Knit Pickers knitting group, Lorraine enjoyed many years of laughs and good times.

Lorraine is survived by her two sons, Richard (Sharon), of Canandaigua, NY and Robert (Ann Lee) of Richmond, VA; and her grandchildren: Rebecca, Andrew (Kayla), Royce (Kelly) and Scott (Brenna), and three great-grandchildren, Gabriella Marie, Hadlee Lorraine and Nora.

There will be a gathering for friends and family at Paul W. Harris Funeral Home, 570 Kings Hwy South, Irondequoit, NY, from 2:00 to 5:00, on Saturday, August 17, 2024.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to West Webster Volunteer Fire Dept. 1051 Gravel Road, Webster, NY 14580, or Hospice of Virginia, 2235 Staples Mill Road, #100, Richmond, VA 23230 (https://hospiceofvirginia.com/donate/).
