Obituary of Richard T. Curtis

Irondequoit: Sunday, June 9, 2024 at age 69. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Jennie Curtis. Richard is survived by his brother, Robert (Kathryn) Curtis; niece, Lori Beth (Paul) Manarchuck; nephew, Michael (Ariana) Curtis; grandnieces, Mary Kathryn Manarchuck and Adelaide Curtis; grandnephews, PJ Manarchuck and Brendan Curtis.

Richard was an avid sports fan of everything from baseball to football to collegiate wrestling. He loved spending time with his extended family, especially his niece and nephew as well as his grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Rich was often seen on the sidelines or in the stands at soccer and basketball games, and track and swim meets. He was an award winning ballroom dancer as well as a highly respected and recognized lecturer by both staff and students at Cornell University. He learned the names of every student in his classes which typically involved many hundreds of students. "Uncle Rich" or "Rich" (as he was fondly known by many) was a sincere friend, who enjoyed conversation with everyone he encountered. His impeccable memory for dates, facts, and stories was quite a remarkable gift.

His family will receive friends Wednesday, June 19, 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to join the family Thursday, June 20, 10:00 am at St. Kateri At Christ The King Church for his funeral mass. Entombment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Rita School, 1008 Maple Dr #1, Webster, NY 14580.
