Obituary of Damon A. Caputo

Damon A. Caputo

Pittsford: Passed at home, peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the age of 54. Predeceased by his father-in-law, Richard Wylie. Damon is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Krissy; children, Tanner (Emily), Jacob, Noah, and Avari Caputo; his parents, Thomas & Marge Caputo; sisters, Belinda (Michael) Stern and Carla Dodd; mother-in-law, Mary Kay Wylie; sister-in-law, Lauren (Tim) Reed; nieces and nephews, Alexa (Ricky) Fagan, Mitchell Stern, Kailyn Stern, Gillian DeLeon, Matthew & Ryan Reed; Great nephew, Miles Fagan; beloved dogs, Henry James, Sandy Cheeks and Luna.

Damon started creating his village at Syracuse University in 1988. Although he graduated from University of Maryland, it is at Syracuse where he made lifelong friends and met his forever love. The journey continued in the DC metro area where he began his career in finance at Crimmie Mae. The next big move was to New York City and a job on the trading desk at Bear Stearns. His success there brought the opportunity to help start the hedge fund Sorin Capital Management. He spent his last years working for the London Stock Exchange Group. He mentored so many during his career and acquired more dear friends along the way. Damon's passions included the Pittsburgh Steelers, New Jersey Devils and smoking meats! His favorite pastime though was being with his kids. He cooked them gourmet dinners almost every night and never missed a blackbelt test, track meet, hockey tournament or soccer game to name a few. He was the definition of a family man; loved by his children, all of their friends and his nieces and nephews, always putting them first. Damon was smart, generous, witty, caring, so silly and will be missed beyond words by everyone.

A very special thank you to every single person that took care of him and our family over the last three years. We are eternally grateful for his nurses, doctors, and hospital staff at the University of Rochester Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering.

His family will receive friends Sunday, August 4, 1-4pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). Friends are invited to meet the family Monday, August 5, 10:30am at Holy Cross Church for his Memorial Mass. Interment Private. In lieu flowers, memorials may be directed to https://colontown.org/
