So many fond memories on Walzford Rd. Gus kept a meticulous yard & house, daily walks with Rocky, lots of laughs, had the scoop on everything. Gus was a picture of an amazing neighbor & friend. We will cherish his memories.

We are so sorry to hear about his passing, and never expected that he would leave this earth so soon. "Mike" was a good man, and we will always remember him for his silly sense of humor and how he made people laugh and kept things light. Both Erik & Adam respected him as a step-dad and think of him fondly and send their condolences too. Mike will be missed by many but never forgotten. RIP Joni & Allan Sandford

I'm so sorry to hear about his passing. I loved working at EI with him. Loved chatting with him. Asked about him when I visited NY in May. May he Rest In Peace

I am Donna LaTour-Bergen EHS Class of 1972. I help run the Eastridge Alumni Page on Facebook. When we lose one of our extended family I post their obit as a celebration of their life. This is what I wrote for Gus: "Please lift up Gus' family and loved ones in the healing light as they mourn his profound loss that many of us share in. Gus graduated in 1969. I remember him fondly as a kind happy soul in a circle of friends that were more like chosen family. I can clearly see him from back in the day smiling driving his beloved bumble bee yellow corvette. Over the years, many of us lost touch but still treasured our memories because you never forget the kids you grew up with. At the East Irondequoit bus line up for transfers in front of EHS where I worked I came across a little girl who was crying. She was confused unsure what bus she needed to be on. I knocked on the doors to one. When the door opened it was Gus. He radioed, found out where she belonged and had her wait in his bus until her connection was made. It was a joyous reunion. I kidded him that he traded his yellow vet for a yellow school bus after his retirement. May even more treasured memories bring joy. May all be comforted knowing that Gus' bright light will continue to be celebrated through the countless souls he touched on earth. His lessons will be paid forward to future generations. Truly the best kind of eternal life. Please click on the funeral home page and share your memories if you are able. It will mean so much to his family. RIP.
