Obituary of Rafael L. Brito
Rochester- Monday, November 11, 2024 at the age of 90. Rafael is predeceased by his parents Benito Isabel and Mercedes Brito. He is survived by his loving wife, Servia A. Brito; children, Juana L. Peguero, Sylvia B. (Hilario) Mateo, Antonia M. (Victor) Contreras, Rafael S. (Loren) Brito, Elizabeth (Sandy) Aristy; 9 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; brother, Juan Isabel along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Don Rafael, known to many as "Brito" was married to his loving wife for 62 years. Both immigrated to the United States in the late 1960's, settling in the Bronx, NY. Brito worked hard to provide for his children and it was his desire to settle in a place where his family could thrive. So, in 1977 he moved his wife and children to Rochester, just in time to experience the famous blizzard of 1977. Brito was able to land a job as a maintenance worker for Eastman Kodak. He taught his children the importance of working hard to achieve the American Dream. He was a member of his local church, Obra de Dios Iglesia Pentecostal, for almost five decades, where he served as a deacon in addition to other ministerial capacities. He was a devout Christian and shared the gospel with as many people as he could, in word and in deed. He will be remembered as a patriarch, leaving a legacy for generations to come. Te amamos y te extrañaremos, hasta pronto, esposo, padre, abuelo, amigo, hermano, y siervo.
His family will receive friends Saturday, November 16, 2-5pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.), where his celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm. Interment will be held in his homeland in the Dominican Republic.
