I met Joyce at a Craft Show at Casa Larga that was held on the "Black Friday" weekend many years ago. I had a table of my stuff in the small room, and as she was making her rounds stopped and looked at everything - especially the handbags and pillows that I make using an embroidery machine. She asked if I take custom orders and when I said yes, her face lit up with her wonderful smile. She took my card, and that started a long, wonderful relationship. When she would come to my shop, which changed three times since our first meeting, she would sit with me while we looked at designs, picked out colors of thread and made decisions. She did so much for me -- I told her that I am much better at my craft due to her special orders, always pushing and teaching me what was possible. We laughed together, shared family stories -- she always remembered things I said and often reminded me. She had a sharp mind, a loving and giving heart, and I miss her. I will never forget how colorful she always was, and that wonderful smile. Rest in peace.
