Uncle Hal was kind, loving, caring, patient, giving and funny man. He will be sadly missed by all of us..
The last time I saw him he was so frail and looked ill but he made me laugh and smile. He was so full of life and still had many jokes to share. Before I had to say goodbye that night, he hugged me and told me he loved me. When I turned to say goodbye one more time he had a smile like sunshine...This memory will be with me forever..

Uncle Hal was a great guy and everyone really admired him. He was always jovial and interested in you and would ask questions about your life. He was also a self made successful businessman.
He was a role model in my life.

My favorite memories of Uncle Hal center around the wonderful Christmas parties he and Gloria hosted for their extended families. It was a generous expression of their love for all of us and enabled us to see one another at least once a year. He was one of my favorite relatives that I inherited when Neil and I married and always showed his love through his beautiful smile and sense of humor.

Hal inspired me to be more confident with my abilities, and played an influential role in my teenage years during a few brief periods when our paths crossed. I never miss the opportunity when meeting someone from Rochester, to say, "Have you heard of Clover Pools? That's my Uncle Hal." I knew him to be fun and a prankster, and he taught me how to backwash a pool and drive a go-kart. I'll see you at the next party, Hal. Peace to you.

We remember Hal working for him at Clover Pools during summers and other times when we were on school breaks during the 60's. He was a terrific business owner, teacher and friend who gave us opportunities we would never have experienced on any other job. Going to work at Clover was exciting everyday. The variety of work gave us skills we have used throughout our careers. He will always be remembered by the Smith Brothers.
